Sell your CRM data to AI

CRM history shows how deals move from first touch to close. Here is how to license it without selling your contacts.

Short answerAI buyers want CRM data as a record of how sales and account work happens. Enterprise buyers list CRM data among the types they seek. The contact names, emails and phone numbers in your CRM are personal information under laws like the CCPA, so they generally need to come out. Pipeline history, activity patterns and outcomes stay in.

What AI buyers want from a CRM

Sales and account-management agents need to learn how real deals progress. A CRM records each step and its result.

  • Deal stages and how long each one took
  • Activity sequences: calls, emails, meetings, follow-ups
  • Win and loss outcomes with reasons
  • Notes on objections and how they were handled
  • Hand-offs between sales, onboarding and support

Buyers generally do not want a raw contact list. Your value is in the workflow history.

Price signals

We found no public price for CRM data sold on its own. Company-level programs include it in a broader package:

  • Published enterprise tiers: $100K+ qualified, $500K+ large-scale or multi-team, $1M+ highly unique.
  • Troveo's guide says business-data deals "typically start at six figures" (Troveo, company claim).

Why CRM data sells best in a bundle

A CRM alone shows what happened to a deal. Paired with your sales SOPs, it also shows what was supposed to happen. Paired with support tickets, it shows what happened after the sale. Enterprise buyers list CRM data next to SOPs, project histories and decision-making records, and larger published tiers reward multi-team data. A sales team, an onboarding team and a support team documented together can count as multi-team. See selling SOPs and selling support tickets.

  • B2B contacts count. Under the CCPA, "consumer" includes B2B contacts and employees. The B2B exemption expired Jan 1, 2023 (Cal. Civ. Code 1798.140). Selling CRM records with contact details may be a "sale."
  • De-identification standard. The CCPA requires reasonable measures, a public commitment not to re-identify and contracts binding recipients.
  • Risk assessments. CPPA rules require one before selling or sharing personal information, from Jan 1, 2026 (White & Case).
  • Financial firms. GLBA requires a privacy notice and opt-out before sharing nonpublic personal information with nonaffiliated third parties (FTC).
  • Data broker laws. State data broker laws define brokers by activity, generally those selling data about people they have no direct relationship with. California's law now requires disclosing sales to AI developers (CPPA). Your own first-party CRM data generally falls outside that test. Purchased lead lists inside your CRM may raise questions.
  • EU contacts. GDPR purpose limitation and compatibility rules may apply (Hunton).

DataPaid is an independent data licensing partner. Licensing your own records is a different activity from brokering consumer data. This is general information, not legal advice. See CCPA and AI data licensing.

How to prepare CRM data

  1. Export deals, activities, stages and outcomes with timestamps.
  2. Remove or replace names, emails, phones and addresses for contacts and reps.
  3. Replace company names with industry and size labels if the buyer agrees.
  4. Exclude purchased lists and records from third-party enrichment tools.
  5. Review free-text notes. They often hold personal details.
  6. Keep stable IDs so deals still link to tickets and invoices.

Operating vs. shutting-down companies

CRM data fits operating companies that can explain their sales process and pair it with SOPs. Closing companies can license historical pipelines, but they should check whether customer contracts or privacy notices limit transfers.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sell my CRM data to AI companies?

You can generally license de-identified CRM history, such as stages, activities and outcomes. Contact details are personal information and usually need to be removed.

Are B2B contacts covered by the CCPA?

Yes. The CCPA's B2B exemption expired Jan 1, 2023, so business contacts count as consumers.

Does licensing CRM data make me a data broker?

Generally not for your own first-party data under direct-relationship tests. Purchased or third-party data inside your CRM may raise questions. Ask counsel.
